I had no trouble finding a rock pile. Hitting the snake with a rock, in the head, was another matter. The first rock hit the snake on the back, behind the stick. The next rock hit the stick. But, the rattlesnake never had a chance. Robert's grip on the Y stick held fast. By the time I had exhausted the rock pile, both the snake's head and the mouse were nowhere to be found.

You can get really high-quality auto parts and accessories for a cheap price when you buy them used. You only need to weigh whether you want to spend more for new parts and have a longer life with them, or if you want to get the cheaper used parts.

Believe it or not, you might be able to sell your used tires. If they are in usable shape, but simply need a patch, a junkyard might be willing to buy them from you in order to repair and then resell them. In fact, you can actually make quite a bit of money selling used tires to the right scrap metal dealer if you shop around to find one that will pay a decent price. Some people have used this to bring in a secondary income for their families, placing ads in the local papers collecting other people's used tires for free, and then reselling them to a local junkyard.

Let us start with ease of obtaining. Obviously newer car parts will be easier to get than older ones. A friend of mine still has a 1975 Pontiac Lemans. To obtain parts for this car he has to literally go to junk yards and even online. No new car dealers keep parts beyond 10 years or so and even auto parts stores limit their inventory to cars under 20 years. A 30 year old vehicle is almost impossible to find parts for. Plus, if you can find the part, depending on where you get it, the cost could be anywhere from 20 to 100% over the original part cost. To say that late model car owners are taken advantage of would be a gross understatement.

While junk yards are one of the most common places where you can find used parts, they're not the only places. Though, you will always get much better deals at junkyards than any other place. Most of the damaged and old vehicles always have a number of spares that work perfectly well. Sometimes these parts are almost new. The only problem with junkyards is that at most of the times you will have to locate and remove the spare part yourself. On the flipside, this saves your money on labor charges that some other dedicated stores might charge you.

What do you need to know if you want to pursue this option? Start by visiting area junkyards and telling them about the tires that you have. Be sure to be completely honest about the condition, as this will dictate the price. See what they will offer, and then try to negotiate a better price. In general, used tires should bring in 25 to 50 percent of the actual retail value of a similar used tire. If you are not happy with the price, shop around until you find a better one.
