There are indicators that are placed on objects or doors to communicate information about how to interact with a particular item or space:
3x5 index cards - These are placed at doors to notify players of some ongoing effect in the room that may impact characters who enter. The knowledge of this effect is out-of-game until a character attempts to do something that the ongoing effect prevents or is otherwise affected by the ongoing effect.
Orange Ribbon - Items in the marked container are out-of-game. This cannot be used to keep things "safe." Items stored this way are OOG items like toiletries or gear for a backup character.
Banners - Banners are in-game objects that are used as part of casting a Ward. On the back of the banner for an ongoing ward is a Ritual Scroll that provides the out-of-game information on how the Ward works. Full details on Wards can be found in the rule book.
