Soulforging as one might expect is the art of forging the only raw material in the underworld – Wraiths. These raw materials are intended to come only from mindless drones, weak, fetter-less wraiths, Specters, or as punishment for the most heinous of criminals. In practice determining which wraiths truly belong in those categories can be somewhat flexible, and a hungry forge is often fed by those who would look the other way for the sake of personal wealth. Corruption is rooted out where it is found, but greed is all too common in the underworld, and many would rather a questionably weak soul be dealt with permanently than risk them falling to oblivion. Soulforging is viewed with vastly mixed feelings. Some view it as a detestable atrocity against the soul, while others view it as a necessity of survival in the realm of the dead. Were there any other form of crafting good in the underworld things may be different, but the sheer lack of any other raw material cements the necessity of soulforging and ensures that the walls and roads of the underworld will literally be paved with souls.
