By putting in a little extra effort you can make a little more cash. What used car dealers and car salvage companies do is to farm used and salvaged cars for parts. It is normally repaired and sold for a profit, or your car will be dismantled and the good parts be used to spruce up other cars that have damaged or defective parts. So why not do the deed yourself and make a little more cash with a little effort. Get a mechanic to check the car for parts and get an estimate of the value of the parts based on the condition.



Keep in mind that building solar panels are similar to swap meets in that most prices are negotiable. This is especially true when you're buying parts that are not in good condition. Ask for a discount or offer a lower price. Junkyards will often agree just to move the inventory. That being said, you can expect to pay nearly half of the cost of a new part. For example, a water pump for a BMW 740i may cost $140 new. Expect to pay $70 (in cash) at the junkyard.

While spurious are a great option, there is a better one. Take a visit to your local auto salvage yard. Getting parts here could not be easier. Most of the times they are available of the shelf for the more common auto models, if not you can either search the wrecking yard yourself or an employee will retrieve the part that you require.

Junkyard - it might sound a bit weird, but it could be one of the places where you will easily get auto parts which are not available in the market currently. These parts may not be manufactured any longer or are not available at all stores. The best part is that you might get a really costly product at a really low price.

I do not consider it to be a complete directory as my two favorite stores are not on it. If you find that you don't live near one, remember to check out your local grocers clearance section which is usually located in the back of the store or look for closeout labels on the grocery shelves.

Maybe you are the do-it-yourselfer. Then salvage title cars are just for you. You can get excellent deals on cars and feed your addiction to cars by fixing it up. You can even get parts from your dealer or from a local salvage yard.

This mostly pertains to body parts that are seen on the outside. While a part might fit perfectly, it may not be the right color and it may be difficult, if not impossible, to paint or stain it so that it matches. While some may not be worried about this, for others this would be a deal breaker.
