San Antonio Spurs apos; Jeremy Sochan Is Relishing The Pressure

' star draft acquisition Jeremy Sochan has downplayed the scrutiny he's under, brushing it off as exciting rather than pressurizing.
The 19-year-old forward, who was raised in Milton Keynes, a town 50 miles northwest of London, until the age of 15, is set to make his debut tonight as the Spurs welcome the at the AT&T Center.
The spotlight will be on Sochan after he was picked ninth overall in the June draft but the 6-foot-9 teenager is relishing the chance to fall under the microscope in Gregg Popovich's team.

'I think there's definitely pressure, always gonna be pressure,' he said at the Spurs media day ahead of the new season. 

'That pressure excites me and keeps me going to do even more for UK basketball and just for myself so it's more excitement than pressure.'
It's rare for basketball players to trade the UK for the American dream and it's even more uncommon for those that do to make the grade.

But the NBA hardwood is something that has been in Sochan's sights ever since he sacrificed other sports in England.
'I used to play football as well. At around 12-13 I decided to only play basketball because it was conflicting,' he added. 
'That's when I really decided this is what I want to do.

'It was difficult. Some people didn't see it because of how difficult it is to get out of the UK and get to the NBA but I always had that mentality that if I really want it I can do it.
'That's when I realized I can do something like this.' 
Sochan has joined a franchise undertaking a revamp with the five-time NBA champions on the periphery since Tim Duncan's retirement six years ago. 
The Spurs' last league title came in 2014 and Popovich's team has failed to make the playoffs since 2020, while the New Orleans Pelicans eliminated them from the play-in tournament last season.

Popovich, who Sochan argues is up there as the best coach of all time, isn't holding out much hope there will be a sudden upturn in fortunes in the 2022-23 season, kolaybet either.

'I probably shouldn't say this. Nobody here should go to Vegas and bet on this team winning the championship,' he told reporters last month.
Sochan did not address the team's objectives for the new campaign but admitted he aims 'to grow' as the rebuild continues. 
When asked who he's looking forward to playing, kolaybet he could not single anyone out.
'It's everyone, I don't have one specific team or player. I play as hard as I can and try and win,' Sochan said.
