This type of used auto-parts retailers provide convenience and hassle-free transactions for their clients. Most accept credit or debit cards, have air-conditioned lobbies and paved parking lots. However, if the purpose is to save the most money possible then the best place to buy used auto parts is a junk yard.

The solution to this problem might be surprising at first, but it makes sense when you look at the numbers. eBay has tens of thousands of cars for sale at any given time, both in the auction and "buy it now" formats. While relatively few of these cars are wrecked or salvage cars, the sheer numbers involved make it certain that there will always be a nice supply of this kind of car. You can narrow your search in terms of finding the model, make and year that you are interested in. You can search through the cars to find one that is reasonably close to your present location. You can even take a look at different models and you might change your mind when it comes to selecting a car to buy.

Make an appointment -- If a salvage yard makes an acceptable offer for your vehicle, then make an appointment to drop it off. If it isn't drivable, the yard may send out a tow truck to take it away. A car that has to be towed will be worth less as it will cost the salvage yard more money to obtain your vehicle. If your car is not drivable, but can be pulled to a salvage yard, then consider doing the job yourself.

Inspect the inside part of the tires. See if there is evidence of previous repairs such as patches or plugs. If the tire has too many patches, leave it and go find another one. Sieve-like tires won't help saving your money. You'll end up spending your budget to repair the damaged tires.

Apart from the size, you should also inspect the condition of the scrap yards. Check for uneven tire wear by feeling the tire with your hands. You can only do this if you buy in person. If you feel uneven surface areas or dips and rises, then the tire has been unevenly worn. You should also check the tires for previous repairs. Look at the insides of the tires and check for patches or plugs. You should buy a used tire without any or at least only a few repairs. If you can see that there are several repairs already, then find another used tire that is in better condition.

If you absolutely need a tractor tire immediately, you might want to consider retread tires. Many tire shops sell these tires at a very deep discount, but they don't last very long. So if you need some tires to hold you over for a week or two, going with a brand name retread tire is probably right for you.
