The Minecraft Movie will now be Directed

The Warner Bros. Minecraft movie has an entirely new director... again. Variety reports that Peter Sollett is now on the team to write and direct the long-awaited film that was at one point supposed to be released in May of this year. However, the production has been hit with delays, due in part to director switchups. In the past, Rob McElhenney (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) was scheduled to direct the film, but he resigned from the project in August. He had replaced Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) who quit in 2014.



Sollett was the director of Raising Victor Vargas, 2002 as well as Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist (2008). He has also been recognized for his work on Five Feet High and Rising. Mojang Minecraft's developer is believed to still be involved in the making of the film.



Warner Bros. acquired the rights to Minecraft in 2014. just another wordpress site Now, the question is whether Minecraft is still able to draw the same amount of viewers as it did a few years back. While it's not known when the movie will be released, there's a chance that it can be released, under a new director.
