General Forum Rules

These rules are here to support open, constructive discussion. Everyone who posts or participates on the Shadow Accord Forums are subject to these rules.

1) Absolutely NO personal attacks, defamatory comments, abuse, or insults of any kind will be tolerated.

2) Be respectful of others. You don't have to agree with them. In fact, feel free to disagree. Just do so in a civil and respectful manner.

3) You may have multiple accounts, but using a different account to get around disciplinary action is not acceptable.

4) Backseat modding is not allowed. If you see somebody breaking a rule, please report it using the ! button on the post, but do not take any action yourself. Do not retaliate in kind against personal attacks or other perceived slights. Simply report the matter privately and it will be addressed.

5) Complaints and criticism may be made here, but we expect them to be constructive, civil, and presented with an attitude of peaceful resolution in mind.

6) Please, no public complaints about moderation. Please address your concerns directly to the moderators at moderators@nwlarpers.org.

Breaking these rules will result in warnings. Repeating an offense may result in a temporary suspension of up to three days, depending on the offense. Further repeat offenses may result in longer suspensions or a ban, as the moderators see fit. You may appeal any ruling via email to sa_executiveofficers@nwlarpers.org and to moderators@nwlarpers.org.

Moderator Promise

We will NOT delete or censor your posts. We will be courteous moderators. We will not (unless for the exception stated later) edit the content of your posts. The only posts where content may be edited by the moderator is if the contents of the post are libelous and open to legal action. If this is the case, the information appended to the post will state the action the moderator took.

Roleplay Forum Rules

  • Once a character has been approved by the Character Guides they are considered an Active Character and may be played on the roleplay forums.

  • If a character does not have a Check-In approved and recorded character sheet, as is done at an Event, no powers or abilities may be used in the roleplay forums.

  • There can be no permanent Character Sheet changes from forum roleplay. Players who intentionally abuse this rule to stir up conflict with no intention of bring the antagonistic character to an official event are subject to Moderation under the General Forum Rules.

  • World of Darkness canonical Self powers (Shifter shapeshifting to lupus, Wraith Shadow Wings, Vampire Shape of the Beast.. etc) may be used on the roleplay forums even if they cannot usually be played at Event due to physical limitations of representing non-humanoid forms.

  • Character Sheet powers may be used on the Roleplay forums, but the outcome of the effects are at the discretion of the defender/target. For example: A defending character can resist mentals with willpower without consideration for other potential willpower use that may have occurred that day.

  • The base state of every character is assumed to be in a human form, in the Realm, and visible unless otherwise stated. Active self effects (A Werewolf in Lupus or Crinos, A Wraith in the Umbra, a Vampire in Cloak.. etc) should be made apparent on an OOG level in each post while the character is present within the thread. NOTE: Declaring a self power does not automatically grant others the ability to detect or identify a character, but if they have the relevant roleplay cues or powers they may be able to notice them.

  • Players may only control the actions of their own character; Players may not dictate the actions of, or post for, others.

  • A player may not have two characters in the same thread at the same time.

  • The open forum threads occur concurrently, so players may only play the same character in one thread at a time.

  • In order to know what is going on in a thread, the character must be present. All conversation or actions that occurred before they entered and after they leave is considered OOG information and exists outside of Character Knowledge.

  • A character must enter a thread in order to be present, and should make best efforts to exit the thread if they are no longer active within it.

NOTE: After every Event the past roleplay threads are archived. Only the most recent archived threads are retained.
