Blood and Spectral Oaths

One of the most misunderstood effects in the game, the Blood Oath makes the victim (Thrall) the devoted, willing, loving slave of the initiator (Regent). Roleplay for this should reflect an intense crush. Under Oath, The Thrall is devoted and admiring of her Regent. She will avoid doing anything that might displease the Regent and will take absolutely no action (including giving information) that she believes might harm him. She will avoid people who speak ill of her Regent or try to besmirch the Regent's reputation. Any orders he gives, she will try her best to do and she will go out of her way to try to please him. She will protect her Regent from perceived harm.

Regardless of the Thrall's knowledge of Blood or Spectral Oaths, the Thrall is supernaturally unable to believe that her feelings are supernaturally induced while the Oath is in effect. She will dismiss the notion that her love might be supernaturally induced and those who press the issue are ignorant at best and malicious at worst. Even if she disliked her Regent before, she will believe that she has suddenly seen him in a new light and that the love is true and eternal.

When the Oath expires, the victim’s “rose colored glasses” are taken away and she will again see him without the compulsory love. She will not, however realize she was under a supernatural effect and will likely write it off as a silly infatuation or passing fancy. She may also choose to continue to love him, trying to recreate the feeling of deep, passionate love that she once held. She may or may not choose to attribute her actions to an Oath depending on what she remembers about the time the Oath was initiated and events that occurred during its duration.

Other mental effects can temporarily suspend an Oath. During that time, you would roleplay the other mental effect in it's place until the duration of the mental effect expires and the Oath returns. This period does not lead to a realization of the Blood Oath without assistance, and when the Oath is back in effect, the notion is dismissed for the duration.
