Traditional Burmese Massage, also referred to as Myanmar Massage, or Burmese Touch it draws heavily upon Indian, Thai and Chinese techniques and concepts. It is intended for general well-being. Traditionally it is not recommended to use any oils, creams or pastes are used in the Burmese massage therapy session, but it is important to note that it does depend on the specific region in Myanmar where the massage takes place and how the massage is performed. Burmese massage therapy is typically quick, focused, and warm. It's geared towards relaxation. The objective of any massage is to assist clients in reducing muscle tension, improve flexibility and range of motion, boost blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, enhance mental performance as well as rejuvenate and energize the body, reduce muscle pain and spasms, as well as reduce stress. The whole purpose is to create a state in complete relaxation and calm, which will ultimately help the client recover quicker from the acute stressor.

In Western countries such as the US, Japan, Canada, Australia and New Zealand We've learned to adapt the old-fashioned techniques of chamomile and Myrtle massage to the culture and needs of each country. Massage is less of an act of ritual in the countries of the east like Myanmar. Through many years, I've been consistently impressed by Thai massage, Burmese massage, and any other massage. This was thanks to an group of Far East students who are descendants of "Druk Yai", a traditional Thai massage practitioner. Although it isn't so diverse as other forms of massage in Thailand, it is still highly effective. It does have its own healing methods and benefits.

I was an Asian massage therapist for six years working in the northern part of Thailand. I didn't notice the widespread use of "Myrrh" in the same way as I did in other areas of Thailand. This is likely due the limitations of the Thai language to translate the word accurately into the English language. I lived for Aromatherapy massage about two years in northern Myanmar therefore I have a lot of knowledge about myrrh practices in the region. I've seen some shifts in the past that I believe could be related to the shift from myrrh-based healing to "herbal medical."

I believe that the absence of myrrh within the rest of Thailand is related to the acceptance of natural and herbal treatments. Massages in Thailand continue to utilize creams, oils and waxes. It is believed that this is due to the huge number of messages (masseurs) who are employed to perform massage services. A lot of Thai massage spas still make use of oil-based therapies since they are believed to be "luxurious".

Many massaging spas in Thailand such as those in northern Thailand, have also adopted the concept of aromatherapy as well as traditional herbal medicine. The same is also the case in the United States, Canada and Europe. These traditional healing practices are not commonly used in massage spas in Thailand. I believe this is due to the fact that these kinds of methods do not align with the practices of larger, more conservatively run massage spas that are located in northern Thailand.

Traditional Burmese massage was a completely different experience than western ones I'd studied. This style that I would refer to as "Myanma" or "Myrobalan," involves gentle pressure being applied to specific points on the body. It is typically done through the kneading. The technique employs long strokes which are not often used in Thai massage, where the practitioner is using only one hand. I noticed that after the massage, my skin was softer and my felt able to sleep at the best way possible.

My studies also revealed that the traditional Burmese massage is often accompanied by the ingestion of a particular herbal concoction. The most sought-after ingredients include some of the ingredients like Lavan, Brahmi and Mistletoe. While the herbs vary from one location to the next but the goal is to provide you with feelings of relaxation. My research found that massage therapists in northern Thailand use Ostrich feathers, ginseng and traditional Burmese methods to aid clients with arthritis-related muscle spasms.

The advantages of a complete body massage are widely known. It is a relaxing effect on your body and mind, which was apparent from the moment I received it. Although the Thais would not call these full body massage techniques as such I can state that upon receiving them, I felt more alert and energetic. I felt a sense of health and well-being that was felt throughout my whole body. I was able accomplish my everyday tasks without anxiety or stress due to the simple techniques my Myanmar massage therapist instructed me.
