The British directorial debut from Gavin Rothery stars Theo James as a scientist working on making an AI as human as possible. His reasons are hidden, personal and sure to put a spanner in the works. Drawing comparisons to Ex Machina, Archive is assured storytelling with an astute focus on character.

Face/Off (1997)













This classic sci-fi film comes from John Woo, a Hong Kong director behind many notable action flicks including A Better Tomorrow (1986), The Killer (1989), Hard Boiled (1992). Basically, if you haven't seen Face/Off yet, know that it has 82 on Metacritic for good reason. Also, it stars John Travolta and Nicolas Cage.

This low-budget indie has surprisingly high production values, impressive performances and inventive camerawork to help tell the story of two teenagers in '50s New Mexico. The resourceful pair chase down the potentially extraterrestrial origins of a mysterious audio frequency.
The 12 track album, which includes the hit single D'You Know What I Mean?, received widespread acclaim following its original release, selling more than a million copies that year and topping the charts in 15 different countries.
