You can spread the news in your neighborhood that you are collecting used and unwanted items on some fixed day of the week. Another option is to distribute pamphlets proclaiming the same message. In this way, they will get a means to dispose off their trash, and you will get what you wanted. Plus, you can offer them to clear their garages, basements or attics in return of a fee. You can even talk to them personally so that they know you are trustworthy.
