Caves & Cliffs: Part II is currently being developed by Mojang as the next major Minecraft update and you can now test the new world generation in a special build.

It's a major change to the way the world is built in Minecraft, so Mojang decided to do things a little differently this time. Occities This, unlike normal testing, isn't a Snapshot that you download from the launcher. Instead, you can go to their blog explaining the process to find instructions and a link to download the Snapshot.

It's possible that things will change but here's what's the difference:

- New world height and depth New mountain biomes (lofty peaks and snowcapped peaks, grove, meadow, and snowy slopes) New cave generation (cheese, spaghetti, and noodles caves) - Local levels of water and lava in the underground caves - New cave biomes produce naturally underground and inside mountains (lush caves or dripstone caves) Natural variation in the shape of terrain and elevation, independent of biomes. Servers For instance forests and deserts could develop on hills without the need for a special biome.
