Wraith Setting Information Specific to SA
Shadow Accord vs. Canon[edit]
Shadow Accord is a Live Action Role Play experience, and as such there are certain aspects found in canon that simply are not possible to duplicate in person. With many of these facets, you are encouraged to duplicate with role play, other props, and clever excuses. In short Shadow Accord is its own world with its own cannon and these discrepancies should be taken into account when playing something from your favorite tabletop experience.
It's also important to note, that Shadow Accord is a Dark Ages game, and that many of the fundamental aspects that make a modern wraith game do not exist at Shadow accord. Stygia is in its golden age when the guilds are thriving and the city still has purpose. The Hierarchy still has its share of corruption, but is more committed to truth and justice than wealth and power. Reconstruction from the First maelstrom has been complete and the fledgling empire is strong and still for the people, and not very totalitarian.
The guilds are in the height of power and only starting to bicker amongst themselves. It will be some time before their revolt or the fisher revolt. The Dictum Mortuum has not been imposed, and Charon is still very much in power. It's also worth noting that the proclamation of reason has yet to be handed down, and the whole of Stygia and the underworld is still focused on the task of ferrying souls to the far shores in the hopes that they may find Transcendence. There is no inquisition that hunts for Heretics, and the term itself is not even yet widely coined. Even oblivion and the tempest are not as strong or fierce as they will be in modern times.
Whatever you chose to play, please keep in mind that these differences make a dramatic shift in how the underworld is seen by players. There are no Dark Ages Wraith books, and as such extrapolating 'how things were' is a bit of a hunt, and open for interpretation. This guide and the Wiki will hopefully help you to make the most of your Wraith experience, at the height of their Golden Age.
