Artificers[edit]

"Do you have what it takes to place another in the flames of soulfire? Can you bring your hammer down and close your ears to the screams?"

Artificers are the masters of the Arconai of Inhabit. They are the Soulforgers and the craftsmen of the underworld. Artificers forge the weapons, armor, walls, paving stones, and literally just about everything else in the underworld that isn’t a relic or naturally occurring. These skills and powers are so vitally important to the empire, as nothing else exists in the underworld save for wraith, forged goods, those few relics that cross the shroud on their own, and the even fewer naturally occurring elements of the Shadowlands. Because of this dependence the Artificers are easily the most powerful and influential guild in the Underworld. All works of soulforging come from the Master Artificer and the First Smith Nhudri, who was pulled from the depths of the Labyrinth by Charon himself sometime around 800BC. Nhudri chooses not to involve himself in the affairs of the guild, rather spends his time perfecting the art.

Soulforging as one might expect is the art of forging the only raw material in the underworld – Wraiths. So that all smiths might take to heart where their raw material comes from the initiation as a true member of the guild is the process of forging a part of the apprentices own corpus into a coin or token. It is this token that serves as both rite of passage, and a constant reminder that for every thing they craft a soul is extinguished. A practicing artificers hands and arms are often scotched black with soot and ash from the forges.

To actually be a working soulforger at game requires possession of, or the use of, a very rare and expensive ritual. Generally even if you plan to play a ranking member of the Artificers guild, do not expect to have access to one at game without considerable investment of time and in game influence.
