Minecraft is a mainstay in the children's entertainment - but now it could even aid them in pursuing a career.

CareersCraft is a new Minecraft world created by Careers Wales, aims to help children aged between eight and 13 discover and build their career skills and knowledge.

It has six zones based on landmarks which include the Senedd, Big Pit, the Coal Exchange and Caernarfon Castle.

Each zone corresponds to an area of study in the new Welsh curriculum.

It is free to download, but a Welsh education edition is available. This edition contains lesson plans for teachers. extremecraft

Players explore the various areas and complete tasks and challenges as they go, learning about careers in specific fields and industries in Wales and finding out more about their individual strengths and interests.

Maggie is a student at Risca Comprehensive School in Caerphilly county, told us: "It was a fun experience and great to discover and explore different career options through Minecraft."

Another pupil, Ferne, added: "It caused me to think about my future, but in a fun way."

Gareth Phillips, Careers Wales said that CareersCraft was a highly innovative resource that will help to boost aspirations and broaden the perspectives of future generations.

"It's been a joy to see young people exploring the world, developing their imagination and problem-solving skills while learning about Welsh traditions and culture and considering their future careers."
