Dramatic Rescue Begins For A Young Couple Stranded In The Mountains
A rescue operation is underway after a couple was left stranded in rugged wilderness overnight.
A 19-year-old woman from Roseberry, on the west coast of Tasmania, was hiking with a 20-year-old near the summit of Mt Murchison when she suffered a medical episode.
The man called Triple Zero at 1.40pm on Tuesday.

However bad weather conditions meant the pair couldn't be reached.
A walking rescue team was instead used and they reached the couple around 8.30pm.
They were forced to spend a night on the mountain, with temperatures dropping to a low of 8.5°C in some parts of the state.

Further rescue teams went to meet the hikers and their initial rescuers at 7am on Wednesday.
They are currently making their way through the terrain.
