Not What You re On The Lookout For
There are three popular ways to grade coated abrasives. Simplified markings (coarse, medium, effective, very fantastic, and so on.) provide a basic description of the grade. The grit refers to the variety of mineral grains that, when set finish to finish, equal 1 inch. The commonly used O symbols are roughly arbitrary. The coarsest grading below this system is 41/2, and the best is 10/0, or 0000000000.
These spots usually affect only the surface of the finish. To remove wet paint, use the appropriate solvent on a soft cloth -- mineral spirits for oil-base paint, water for latex paint. To remove dry paint or other supplies, very fastidiously raise the surface residue with the sting of a putty knife. Do not scrape the wood, sửa điện nước or you'll scratch the end. When the surface material has been eliminated, buff the area very evenly along the grain of the wood with No. 0000 steel wool moistened with mineral spirits. Then wax and polish the whole floor.

Clear the ding space with a tender cloth moistened in mineral spirits, and let it dry completely. Then, with an artists' brush, carefully apply new end to the spot -- varnish, shellac, lacquer, or enamel -- to match the remainder of the finish. The spot will probably be very noticeable at first. Let the finish dry; will probably be glossy. Then lightly buff the spot with No. 0000 steel wool, and wax and polish your entire piece of furniture. The ding ought to mix perfectly when the job is complete.
