I believe that the absence of myrrh within the rest of Thailand is related to the acceptance of natural and herbal treatments. Massages in Thailand continue to utilize creams, oils and waxes. It is believed that this is due to the huge number of messages (masseurs) who are employed to perform massage services. A lot of Thai massage spas still make use of oil-based therapies since they are believed to be "luxurious".
Many massaging spas in Thailand such as those in northern Thailand, have also adopted the concept of aromatherapy as well as traditional herbal medicine. While the herbs vary from one location to the next but the goal is to provide you with feelings of relaxation. My research found that massage therapists in northern Thailand use Ostrich feathers, ginseng and traditional Burmese methods to aid clients with arthritis-related muscle spasms.
The advantages of a complete body massage are widely known. It is a relaxing effect on your body and mind, which was apparent from the moment I received it. Although the Thais would not call these full body massage techniques as such I can state that upon receiving them, I felt more alert and energetic. I felt a sense of health and well-being that was felt throughout my whole body. I was able accomplish my everyday tasks without anxiety or stress due to the simple techniques my Myanmar massage therapist instructed me.
