We spoke with Tobias Mollstam (web developer for Mincraft.net) about the challenges that come with rapid growth.

We know from experience that dealing with a large number of customers is the most challenging aspect of running a small team. This was the problem Mojang was facing at a very high level, particularly when their license order confirmation emails were lost.

Before we switched to Postmark we had an individual machine that was used to send email messages, basically stabbing in the dark since we hadn't done all the tedious work associated with ensuring that e-mails are delivered. As our user base grew and so did the number of support tickets for lost purchase confirmations - so something had to change.

Time is crucial when you're selling hundreds of copies of your software each hour.

...probably my favorite part of the service. Tecelana Postmark took about 3 minutes to start and it has just been churning away ever since. Now we even have metrics of how our transactional emails are performing. We're back to the future!

Sorry people, the DeLorean doesn't come with your Postmark account. Tecelana It only comes after people use the game to build scale replicas for the Starship Enterprise.

A huge thank you to Tobias for taking the time to talk with us. Congratulations on the ongoing success of Minecraft! We are extremely enthusiastic about Minecraft and it's an honor to be able to improve the experience for their customers.
