Minecraft Makers Newest Game Blends Cliffs Horses And Dogecoin
Markus "Notch" Persson is most well-known as the creator behind Minecraft However, he's rapidly becoming famous for his eccentric games that include everything from speed typing to existential drama. If there's any doubt, you just have to check out his latest game, Cliffhorse. It's absurd as the title suggests. You play as a horse pushing a giant rock ball across the cliffs. However, the bare-bones design (which took just two hours to create) is what's important. Persson describes the game for Windows only as a slap at developers who abuse early access programs by charging money for "minimum effort" releases, where most of the content theoretically comes later. He's also aware of the irony given that he charged for Minecraft even before it was completed. minecraft
In case the silliness of the project wasn't patently clear, Notch is only accepting voluntary Dogecoin donations as payment; you can download Cliffhorse completely free of charge if you like. It's just as well that there's no real profit-making model, as there's "no assurance of updates in the future." Persson's parody might not be enough to inspire you to send him virtual currency. However, the launch could be helpful if it gets some developers to do some more effort before they ask users to pay up.
